Desperately trying to keep up

Well, it really has been a hectic couple of weeks, so much so that I can not fit everything in here, only give highlights of what has been happening. We now have a significant online presence, the idea being to give people the choice to select the easiest way for them to follow our progress. This is what has been developed:

1) We now have a dedicated website live: journeytothepoint Thanks to the hard work of Ian Roberts in doing this, who not only has set it up in a very short period of time, but also entertained the crazy ideas of myself and Jason on what it should look like and what content it should contain.
2) The JustGiving page has been updated at http://www.justgiving.com/christopherseymour. Its got some interesting stuff on there and paints a concise picture of what we are actually about.
3) For Facebook fans who want to keep track of when there has been a major update, we have set up a dedicated Facebook group. Just search for ‘Journey to the Point’ in your groups section of FB.
4) I’m getting my head round using Twitter, tweeting away on the account name ‘journey2point’
As you can see, our sponsored cycle ride is fairly well themed now, and I’m happy to say that up till this moment in time, if you type Journey to the Point into google – our flickr photos that feed into the website are the number 1 result that are displayed.

We also already have a fantastic group of organisations supporting & helping us in some way. They are Proton Beam Alex himself – obviously, brainstrust (UK), the National Association for Proton Therapy (U.S.), Indiacancer (India), HEAL (UK) and finally Dandelion Hiking (China). Thank you to all of them.
I still find myself slightly jetlagged, writing this from a house in London and reminiscing on four days ago when I was still back in Beijing. It was a little disheartening to have to leave my girlfriend for such a long time, however her support has been fantastic and she has been using her design experience to help us with the website! Moving house was a stressful whirlwind of one and a half days, finding paraphernalia in all sorts of places and packing endless boxes to put in three different peoples’ houses. Thank you to Ben and Siqi especially.
As a result of all this, one thing that has dropped off in the past week is my fitness, today’s 45 km ride in Richmond was a rude shock to the system and reminding me there is much work to be done here on that front. Also, although we have bike apparel, there is still some bike equipment we need including, believe it or not, two bicycles! We have both decided our current bikes are not up to such a demanding trip, so we have to track something down fairly quickly to get accustomed to before we pack them onto the plane to India…
